Artist statement

My ceramic work has involved the creation of conceptually based new-form objects and installations. The subjects for my work begin with my everyday life and family and goes on the worlds of various people. These works are basically about the feelings, emotions and meanings of human relationships, inner human and life itself. Among these diverse subjects pertaining to humans, I like to ultimately express the positive aspect of people’s inner emotions and the importance of life, the elements that are easily overlooked everyday, because I believe that realizing this make life more abundant.
Furthermore, many of my work have crowd-form or more than one piece. This is because in addition to emotions which appear in each of my work, it is my intention to express the relationship between the connecting forms and even the spaces that exist when they connect as part of my work.
Occasionally, I install outdoor sculptures to express the relationship between man and nature. I try to express the greatness of nature such as the mountains, clouds, sprouts, wind, and water and the happiness of experiencing these blessings.
My sculptures have been influenced by minimalism, and I hope to continue to be suggestive and minimal in my expressions. I digest the complex sense and concept of my themes, and try to express lyrically and implicitly with warm curved shapes. In other words, “my conceptual sculpture weds minimal form with maximal content.”
Lastly, I hope to convey a particular feeling or sensation to the viewer such as warmth, romance and playfulness. More than anything, I like to transmit my work for qualities of good and beauty.
